Located in Spanish Oaks, Laceback Terrace is a modern home nestled into the hillside overlooking the Texas Hill Country. The client wanted the landscape to match the modern appeal of the home while still representing the native flora of its location.

One of our main challenges with this project was mitigating and managing drainage of surface water coming down the driveway from the street. During our design process, we incorporated geometric forms using natural materials such as Lueder limestone and river rock to define programmatic space and boundaries, while including native flora like Silver Ponyfoot, Gulf Coast Muhly, Lomandra, Red Yucca, Agave’s, Palo Verde, and Texas Live Oaks in a formal organization to compliment the geometric structure of the home.

We mitigated the hazard of stormwater erosion by utilizing large surface areas of permeable surface in our hardscape, while using native grasses as the vessel to direct water away from the property and down the hillside.
